She is the founder and executive director of Meethi Zindagi, a community based, community led non profit working at national scale in Pakistan, to improve lives of people living with type 1 diabetes. Sana is also the Core Commissioner for the Lancet Commission on Type 1 Diabetes and the Secretary General for Parliamentarians for Diabetes Global Network. With her lived experience and passion for type 1 diabetes, she took up transforming healthcare by innovative solutions rooted in digital governance & distributed care delivery models, and advocating for policies to improve diabetes care globally. She was honored with prestigious inaugural Leonard Thompson Award on Insulin Centenary and co-authored ISPAD Guidelines for diabetes management in limited resource settings (2022) which is an indispensable resource used worldwide.
