Dr. Eugene E. Wright, Jr. hold an appointment as Consulting Associate in the Department of Medicine of Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Wright has over 40 years of clinical experience as a private practitioner, academic clinician and educator, medical administrator, a rural physician in southeastern NC and a volunteer physician. He currently works with the South Piedmont AHEC in Performance Improvement since 2018. Dr. Wright has served as an Associate Editor of Clinical Diabetes, and has served on several advisory and editorial boards to include Diabetes Technology and Therapeutics and as a content reviewer for UpToDate. He served as the inaugural chair of the ADA Primary Care Interest Group, as a member of the ADA/AHA Know Diabetes by Heart Science Advisory Group and in several leadership roles with the ADA Clinical Conference. Dr. Wright has published numerous articles on diabetes diagnosis, treatments and management and has given presentations at national and international meetings on new treatments and technology for diabetes. Dr. Wright has an undergraduate BSE in Electrical Engineering from Princeton University (1973) and a medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine (1978). He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Duke University Hospital in 1981.

He earned his medical degree from Xiangya School of Medicine in China, completed his residency in medicine at the Washington Hospital Center and pursued a clinical fellowship in endocrinology and metabolism at the University of Virginia. Additionally he received postdoctoral research training at both Yale University and the University of Virginia. A key contribution of his research has been the elucidation of the central role of microvascular insulin action and resistance in the development of diabetes and its complications. He has published more than 170 peer-reviewed papers, with his research programs supported by the National Institutes of Health and the American Diabetes Association. He has also served on numerous national and international committees and journal editorial boards.

Prof. Lim is a Senior Consultant Endocrinologist and Executive Director of the Department of Clinical Research and Advancement at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She is the former Head of the Diabetes Care Unit, Universiti Malaya (2022-2025). She also holds honorary positions at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, Melbourne, Australia. As a clinician-scientist, Prof. Lim’s major areas of interest are cardiometabolic medicine (epidemiology, molecular, and implementation science). Prof. Lim sits on the Scientific Work Groups of the American Diabetes Association/European Association for the Study of Diabetes (ADA/EASD) Precision Medicine in Diabetes Initiative and the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Diabetes Compact.
